Parkside School

Learning Resource Center Hours

Parkside School LRC is open each day when school is in session.

When May I Come to the LRC?

Hours:  8:00 a.m. -  3:25 p.m.
Monday through Friday

with a pass from your teacher

On early dismissal days or staff development days, the LRC closes at the end of the student's school day.

The Parkside LRC operates under a flexible schedule with open checkout.
Students may come in any time during school hours
(with their classroom teacher's permission and LRC pass) to checkout books.

If you come to the LRC, you must bring your agenda book pass or Learning Resource Center pass signed by the teacher who gave you permission to come.

At the end of your visit in the LRC, you should ask the librarian to initial and write the time you are leaving on your pass. The student should then return to the teacher who gave them permission to come into the LRC.

How Do I Check Out Materials?

What If I Have An Overdue Book?     What If I Lose a Book?

LRC Material Checkout

All materials are to be checked out from the circulation desk before leaving the LRC.  Each student is fully responsible for any materials checked out even to the extent of paying for damaged or lost materials.  It is recommended that students not loan books that are checked out in their name to others, as you are still responsible for materials checked out.  Let others check out materials after you return them to the LRC.

Take your selections to the circulation desk. Tell the librarian your first and last name in a clear voice.  You may borrow 2 books at a time. If you need more than two books at a time, please speak with the librarian -- we are here to help!  Books check out for 2 weeks, and it is a good idea to return them as soon as you are through with them. The patron will be place the due date slip in their borrowed material(s).  Books may be renewed for an additional 2 week period as long as you are still using them. On or before the due date please bring the books to the Learning Resource Center to be renewed in the computer.  If additional time is needed, please speak with the librarian.  All materials must be checked out before you leave the Library Resource Center.

While we are here to encourage you to read, study, and write excellent papers, we do reserve the right to place a limit on the number of books or materials that you check out.  In special instances, when an entire class is studying the same subject, a teacher may put books on reserve and not allow them to circulate.  Check at the LRC front desk if you have any questions.

  Overdue Materials

While we do not charge a fine for overdue books, we do send out overdue notices on a routine basis, usually weekly. It is a student's responsibility to return all materials before the due date. If a student has books overdue for more than two weeks, we reserve the right to suspend the student's borrowing privileges or limit the number of books that may be checked out at anytime until the overdue items are returned.  When the item is returned, the student's record is cleared. If you have an overdue, missing, or damaged book, please talk to the librarian.  We want you to continue responsible use of LRC materials even if you have lost a book.  Should you notice that your child is not bringing home new books to read, please ask if a book is considered lost or overdue.  Sometimes, the book is sent back to school with the student, but it does not make it to the LRC.
