Parkside LRC Expectations

EXPECTATIONS

We must all work together to create an appropriate learning atmosphere.  Please help us to achieve our goal.  We have work to do and I expect while you are in the LRC to work quietly.  Please allow each other to concentrate and work without distractions.

Follow directions the first time given.

Act in ways that help learning happen. Be self-motivated, polite and cooperative.

Respect books, equipment, materials and people around you.

Take good care of books and equipment.  Keep the area that you use clean and organized.  Books and materials will last longer when cared for properly and more people can use them.

When you speak, please speak softly so that you do not disturb other people.  The main reason for this is respect.  Please leave and enter quietly.

Please pick up after yourself and push your chair in when leaving.

Cupboards and drawers containing supplies or equipment, the library office, file cabinets, and the librarian's work station are off limits to the students.

Outside food, drinks, candy, and gum are not allowed in the LRC.

Comply with all school rules/regulations as stated in the current year Student Handbook.

Guides

OPAC-This is our automated card catalog that helps you find where a book is located in our library.  You can search at school for a book by author, title or subject or series.  OPAC stands for Online Public Access Catalog.

Another web-based searching tool is the AR BOOK FINDER.  You can search for AR books online.  Parents, guardians, and students can conduct book searches by author, readability level, point value, and topic. You can place the titles in your online AR BookBag, obtain permission to print it, and take it to your library or bookstore.

Surfing the Internet—Use the Internet appropriately!  Surf Safe, Surf Smart, Surf where you are supposed to Surf.

Students who do not comply with the expectations may have their

Library Privileges suspended for a specified period of time.
